Department of Corrections – S/4HANA Upgrade

The New Zealand Department of Corrections was embarking on a massive project to upgrade from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA. Challenge

Upgrading a critical operations platform like SAP ECC to the next-generation S/4 HANA is no small feat. For the New Zealand Department of Corrections, it was a year-long project that required precise planning, thorough execution, and meticulous trial runs. The final cutover, where the upgrade was implemented into production, was a critical moment that would determine the success of the entire project.

The Department of Corrections recognized the importance of modernizing its data integration tools, data warehouse, and reports to ensure they would be compatible with S/4 HANA. They also knew that this transition would require a significant amount of data to be transferred from on-premises to the cloud. The challenge was clear: ensure the upgrade took place seamlessly, with zero downtime and no interruption to the continuity of business operations.

Solution

The move to S/4 HANA posed significant challenges for the New Zealand Department of Corrections.
