SAP has several ways to push data, and picking the right connector will save you headaches:

  • SAP DataSphere: This is SAP’s newer solution, built for replicating data to cloud environments and connecting to external tools like Databricks without breaking compliance rules.
  • OData via ODP Framework: If you need frequent, incremental data loads (like daily sales reports), ODP can handle that with delta replication—no need to move entire datasets every time.
  • JDBC Connectors: These let Databricks query SAP data directly, especially for HANA systems. You can leverage tools like Spark JDBC drivers to pull live SAP data into PySpark workflows.

Make sure the flow is secure and compliant by following SAP-approved methods like DataSphere and encrypting data during transit and at rest.

2. Methods for Integration

2.1 Method 1: SAP to Databricks Integration via DataSphere
